Points : Cast Iron Welding Techniques
Cast iron welding process must be complete on the dull red-hot casting by the rod with blowpipe at convenient angles and
finished in the leftward manner. Rod is dipped into the flux at intervals by only sufficient flux to take away the oxide. It will
be notice that as the flux is added, the metal flows extra simply and looks brighter and this gives excellent indications as to
while flux is necessary. The extreme use of flux causes blowholes and a weak weld. Rod should be pressed down well into
the weld remove a good percentage of the stage and oxide very little motion of blowpipe is required and the rod must not
be stirred about incessantly as this means the formation of more slag by more risk of entrap it is the weld. Cast-Iron welds
prepared by beginners frequently have brittle parts along the edges suitable to their not getting below the oxide and
floating it to top. Then the slag and oxide is detached by the help of chipping hammer with wire brush. The casting is then
allowable to cool off extremely gradually.
