Cold rivet and burning rivet is introduce into plates with the point is then formed. While a cold rivet is use, the method is identified as cold riveting with while a hot rivet is use; the method is identified as hot riveting. Cold riveting method is use for structural joints as hot riveting is use to create leak proof joints.

Riveting might be prepared by hand or with a riveting machine. Hand riveting, original rivet head is back up through a hammer or grave bar with then die or set is located beside the end to be head with the blows are functional through a hammer.
