The floor jack is used to raise the weight of the rear axle off the leaf spring. Warning Never drive out the leaf spring eye or shackle bolts unless all force is released from the spring. The eyebolts should pull out or drive out easily. If removed with weight on the spring the spring will fly upward or downward with great force. Install the new spring in the opposite order. Make sure that you position the axle assembly on the leaf spring correctly. A small guide pin may be provided to assure proper rear axle alignment. When only the leaf spring bushings are worn, they can be replaced without spring removal.
