Construction of Babcock and Wilcox Boiler
Construction of Babcock and Wilcox Boiler
Points : Construction of Babcock and Wilcox Boiler
Boiler has of an elevated pressure cylindrical steel drum mount at top of its
constitution. As of every end of drum, connections are prepared by the uptake header
with a down take header which is placed under the drum. Headers are attached to all
other by large number of tubes which are reserved liable at angle of on 15° to
horizontal. Furnace is set under the uptake header. Furnace has a grate for fuel
burning. The coal is fed by fire doors. Baffle are provide crossways water tubes to
deflect flue gases so to flue gases create three pass above tubes before use gases
runaway to chimney by smoke chamber. The dampers are providing at inlet of chimney
to control draught. The flow of water is preserve by convection currents. Hot water
with steam rise as of the tubes to uptake header. As of uptake header, hot water
with steam rises with enters boiler drum. Steam is collect in upper half of drum.
Cold water flows as of drum to down obtain header, thus water is effecting cycle of
flow. Steam is supplied for use through steam stop valve.
