Working of Rockwell Hardness Testing Machine

Working of Rockwell Hardness Testing Machine Points : Working of Rockwell Hardness Testing Machine For testing metallic materials the 1/16 in ball and the demand penetrator are most commonly used. The penetrator chuck is connected mechanically connected to a die indicator which responds to vertical motion of the penetrator as shown above. Since the penetrators are small the specimen should be ground smoothly and clean. The dial indicator is zeroed and then a major load of 60. 100 or 500 kg is applied; force the penetrator into the specimen. Upon removal of major load, the indented specimen recovers slightly, and the final depth of penetration is registered directly on the dial indicator as a harness number. Various combinations of penetrator and major load ire used and designed by series letters.
