Uses of Tongs Points : Uses of Tongs Tongs are use to clutch the work piece as doing any forging process mainly when the work piece is hot. The work piece is in use out from the furnace by holding it with the long. It is then placed on the anvil for doing the forging process. Tongs are frequently complete of medium carbon steel or mild steel. A long consists of two parts which are hinged by a rivet. The tongs are 45 to 60 cm long with their jaws 8 to 15 cm extended.
