Rope Drives
Rope Drives
Points : rope drives, types of rope drives, what is rope drive
Rope drives are extensively use where a large quantity of power is to be transmit, as of one
pulley to any more, over a substantial distance. It can be noted that use of flat belts is
partial for transmission of reasonable power as of one pulley to any more while the two pulleys
are not more than 8 metres distant. If large amounts of power are to be transmit, through the
flat belt, then it would result in extreme belt cross-section.
Ropes drives use following two types of ropes:
1. Fibre ropes
2. Wire ropes
Fibre ropes work effectively as the pulleys are about 60 metres apart, as the wire ropes are use
when the pulleys are upto 150 metres distant.
