Working of Tidal Power Plant Points : Working of Tidal Power Plant Through high tide stage, water flows as of the sea to tidal basin through water turbine as level of water in sea is over that of basin. This function the turbine and eventually generator therefore converting mechanical energy into electrical energy.

Through low tide stage, water flows as of tidal basin to sea as water level in tidal basin is over that of sea. During this period too, the flowing water turns turbine and generates power. Generation of power stops just in case of equal level of water in sea and basin. In this case, turbine blades must be reversible by accurate blade angles depending upon way of flow.
