Advantages and Disadvantages of Benson Boiler
Advantages and Disadvantages of Benson Boiler
Points : Advantages and Disadvantages of Benson Boiler
Advantages
- It can be operating mainly economically by varying temperature and pressure at limited loads and
overloads. Thu preferred temperature can also be maintained constant at any pressure.
- Super heater of Benson boiler is integral part of forced circulation system therefore no particular
starting arrangement for super heater is necessary.
- Transfer of parts of boiler is simple as no drums are required and majority of parts are carried to site
with no preassembly.
- As generation of steam is carried out in evaporating tubes at pressure higher than critical pressure it
doesn’t need any evaporating drum.
- It can be put up in a moderately smaller floor area.
- Benson boiler is lighter in weight by high generation speed of steam.
Disadvantages
- Evaporation process will leave small deposits during change of water into steam due to which it requires
regular cleaning. To obviate this problem, the water softening plant is requiring.
- The formation of heavy deposits on heating surfaces when impure water is use.
- Tubes are possible to be overheated in case of water flow is not enough.
- Boiler control for variable loads is difficult.
