Steering Column Assembly

Steering Column Assembly Points : Steering Column Assembly These are following components in the steering column assembly.
1. Steering wheel
2. Steering shaft
3. Column (outer housing)
4. Ignition key mechanism

6. Universal joint

The steering column normally bolts to the underside of the dashboard. The column sticks through the firewall and fastness to the steering gear assembly. Bearings are fitted between the steering shaft and column. The steering shaft move freely due to these bearings. The steering wheel is fitted to the shaft by splines. There is a large cut, which holds the steering wheel on the shaft splines.
