  1. To give the limits of an angular dimension and to maintain to accuracy the tolerance is generally Bilateral.
  2. The difference between the maximum shaft size and minimum hole is known as Allowance.
  3. Tolerance permissible variation is both plus & minus, it is referred to a Bilateral tolerance.

  9. In a clearance fit, this is the minimum clearance and is Positive Allowance.
  10. A Bilateral tolerance is one which allows the variation in both direction from a design size.
  11. In the case of unilateral tolerances, the dimension is allowed to vary in One direction.
