The input for each f the these channels may be either one or three thermocouples entirely separate from the twelve control thermocouples. A comparator look at these two channels and the control channel, and if at any time, a discrepancy is detected in excess of the present allowed value, the unit will sound an alarm. Open thermocouples failure of one channel will permit the unit to continue to operate. However, if both over temperature trip channels should fail open, the unit will trip.
