1. Divider
Divider is a two-legged, steel tool by case-hardened points. Its size is calculated
by the maximum distance it preserve be open between the two points.
Therefore a 4 in, divider opens 4 in. among the points, a 6 in divider opens 6 in.
among the points, etc. Dividers are use to inscribe circles and parts of circles to
lay off distance and calculate distances. Equally points should be even in length;
sharpen on an oil stone.
2. Caliper
Caliper is use for measure outside and inside diameters etc, mainly where the
sectional measurements cannot be taken.
3. Rules
Rules of different sizes and propose are use by wood workers for measuring and
setting out dimensions, but they usually work with a fourfold box-wood rule ranging
from 0 to 60cm. This is graduate on equally sides in millimeters and centimeters and

4. Miter Square

5. Combination Square
Few woodworkers recommend a combination square which is like to the combination set

6. Marking Gauge
Marking gauge has single marking point. It gives a precise cut line parallel to a
right edge, generally by the grain. Panel gauge is longer than the marking gauge and
is use to gauge tines transversely wider surface.
7. Mortise Gauge
Mortise gauge have two marking points, one fixed close to to the end of the stem and
second attached to a brass sliding bar. These two teeth cut two similar lines call
Mortise Line.
8. Cutting Gauge
Cutting gauge has a cutting blade detained in place by a hold so that its ledge
perhaps varied for the depth of cut. This gauge is helpful for gauging very well deep
lines for such joints as dovetails on wide wood, for the edges of grooves for
inlaying, cutting during very thin stuff to make little strips and cutting small
rebate.
9. Bevel Square
Bevel square is like to the try square except has a blade that might be swivel to any
angle 0° to 180°. This tool is familiar by free by a turn screw of proper size in a
machine screw operation in a slot in the blade.
10. Wing Compass
Wing compass is serene of two finely pointed steel legs which are put to the
preferred position and held by a set screw and quadrant. They are used while step off
a number of equal space, mark circles or arcs and as scribing parallel lines to
straight or bent work.
11. Straight Edge
Straight edge is a machined plane part made of wood otherwise metal having truly
straight and parallel edges. One of the longitudinal edges is usually made leveled.
This is use to test the trueness of large surfaces and edges.
12. Spirit Level
Sprit level also knows n as Plumb bob. These are use for testing the place of large
surfaces. Spirit level tests intended for horizontal position. Plumb bob test for
vertical place. Combination of these two give a right angle, and they are use where a
try square would be far also small.
13. Trammels
Trammels is a large circle or an arc have a huge radius can be tense with a tool call
Trammel Points. It is every so often calling a Beam compass or Beam Trammel and can
too be use to measure distances in the similar way to a divider is use. The size of
the circle or arc that can be finished or the distance that can be calculated depends
on the length of the beam.
14. Marking Knife
Marking knife is use for change the pencil lines into cut lines. They are prepared of
steel having one end pointed and the other end bent into a pointed cutting edge.
