Paper Capacitors Points : Paper Capacitors This type of capacitor is the most commonly used. The ratings of paper capacitors range from 0.001 uF to a few uF and from 200 to 1000 volts d.c. They are the cheapest type but physically bigger than several other types.
In its simplest form a paper capacitor consists of a layer of paper between two layers of metal foil. The metal foil and paper are rolled up and the external connections are brought out from the foil layers. The complete assembly is dipped in wax or plastic. The main application of this capacitor is in power supplies for filtering.
