- MouIds rammed too hard will cause a “blow” when they are poured.
- Use the vent wire with great care. Avoid sticking your fingers or hand with the sharp point.
- Always stack flasks, boards and weights in an orderly manner so that they will not fall.
- If you have an accident, however slight, report it to your instructor immediately.
- Keep aisles and gangways clear of all materials that might cause one to stumble.
- Do not attempt to .lift excessive weight. Ask for assistance when lifting or rolling a heavy load.
- Stick the shovel in the sand pile when it is not in use. Do not lay it on the floor, to Carry your shovel with the blade pointing toward the floor. Do not you carry it with the blade over your shoulder.
- Refrain from particle jokes and other horseplay. Many injuries result from “innocent fun”.
- Dress properly for the work to be done. Sleeves should be rolled up above the elbow. Aprons and other clothing should be fastened so that loose ends cannot be caught on flasks or other equipment.
- Moulding and must be tempered properly before using. Too much moisture in the sand will a use mould to “blow “when molten metal is poured in to them.
- Keep your bench and working station in order. Falling tools may cause personal injury or may destroy your mould.
