Difference between Jigs and Fixture | ||

1. | Jigs direct the cutting tool. | Fixture doesn’t direct the Cutting tool. |
2. | The hole is to be drilled in work-piece from jigs. | Fixture is used to hold the work piece. |
3. | From jigs operations like drilling reaming, tapping and polishing may be performed. | Fixtures can’t perform any operation other than holding the work piece. |
4. | During operation jigs do not move with work piece. | Fixture may move with work piece during the operation. |
5. | Jigs are not tightened on machine table with the help of nut and bolt. | Fixtures are tightened on machine table with the help of nut and bolt. |
