Bending Operation

Bending Operation Points : Bending Operation, Definition Bending is the Operation of deforming a flat sheet around a straight axis where the neutral plane lies. It is very common forming process for chinning sheet and plate into channel, drums tanks, etc.
The type of bending dies/dies method are shown.
• In V- bending a wedge shaped punch force the metal sheet or strip into a wedge shaped die cavity. The bend angle may be acute, 900 or obtuse.
• V- Dies are the ones that are most generally used.
• Wiper bending is used for 900 bends only. Here the work is held firmly to the die, and the punch bends the extended portion of the blank.
• Presses specifically designed for these operations are called press brakes.
