Resistance Welding and its Types

Resistance Welding and its Types Points : Resistance Welding and its Types Resistance welding the metal parts to be attached is heated by their resistance to the flow of an electrical current. Frequently this is the only resource of heat, but a only some of the welding operation combine resistance heating by arc heating, and perhaps with burning of metal in the arch.

Its method applies to almost all metals and most combination of them. Clean metals and persons alloys which nave only a limited plastic range are welded by heating the parts to fusion (melting). Some alloys, however, may be welded without fusion; instead, the parts are heated to a plastic state at which the applied pressure cause there crystalline structures to grow together. The welding of different metals may be accomplished by melting both metals but frequently only the metal with the lower melting point is melted, and an alloy bond is bent at the outside of the un-melted metal.
Types of Resistance Welding
  1. Upset Welding
  2. Seam Welding
  3. Spot Welding
  4. Projection Welding
  5. Butt welding
  6. Flash welding
