Calcination
Points : Calcination, Definition Definition Calcination is used when the ore concentrate is a compound of a gas and a solid, the calcination process separates the solids from the gas. For example, bauxite, an aluminum ore, is mixed with lime and soda ash; the mixture, when heated, produces a hydrated aluminum.
This hydrated aluminum is then reheated to produce alumina. The alumina changes from hydrated alumina to aluminum in the calcinaiton process.
