Nodulizing
Points : Nodulizing, Definition Definition Agglomeration can be done by briqueting or Nodulizing pig iron is generally manufactured by blast furnace, a large chemical reactor into which ore, coke and limestone is charged. Iron ore is sintered or pelleted or briquetted. Organic binders can be used as substitutes for bentonite in agglomeratign iron ore concentrate. Over 30 organic binders have been evaluated so far.

The binder groups capable of producing high green pellet strengths are natural gums (guars) carboxyl methyl cellulose, and gelled starches non-gelled starches. The non-gelled and alkalized starches, starch acrylic copolymers, wood related products and dairy products are less effective binders but better than bentonite. The highest dry compressive strengths are obtained with binders giving the highest adhesive tensile strength (over 4 Kgs/cm2)on iron oxide lap-joint substrates.

Pellets with 0.1% organic binder show lower compressive strengths and reduction disintegration indices than pellets with 1% bentonite, but they have higher reduction rates. Pellets with carboxyl methyl cellulose and gelled starch e higher softening temperatures than those with bentonite. Specially, the gelled arch is a potential binder with its cost effectiveness, and its pellets have superior metallurgical properties to those of bentonite pellets.
