1. Since steam temperature is suitably low in a two or three row wheel, thus, cast iron cylinder can be used. This will also save material price.
2. As number of moving blades rows in wheel increases, highest stage efficiency and the optimum value of blade speed to steam speed percentage decreases.
3. Due to comparatively large heat fall a velocity compounded impulse turbine requires a reasonably small number of stages.
4. Because of less stage its cost is fewer.

Disadvantages

1. In a single row wheel, steam temperature is high, so cast iron cylinder cannot be use due to phenomenon of enlargement; cast steel cylinder is use which is costlier than cast iron.
2. It has a high steam use and low efficiency.
