Difference between Brinell and Rockwell Hardness Testing | ||

1. | Brinell Hardness machine uses bigger penetrator than Rockwell Machines. | Rockwell Hardness tester uses smaller penetrates than the Brinell testers. |
2. | The standard Brinell test produces so large an impression that it is considered to be destructive test under some circumstances. | It is more flexible than Brinell, a large no of combinations of indenters and loads made it more useful to test a wider range of materials. |
3. | This test is fairly slow because of the time required to measure the dia & to determine the Hardness. | This test is faster than Brinell Hardness test. |
4. | I cannot be used for too Hard materials because ball indenter can be damaged. | It can be used for very hard material because its ball inductor corn be danged. |
5. | Duration of applying load can be 15 to 30 seconds or even up to 60 seconds in some cases. | Duration of applying major load is not more than 2 seconds. |
