1. Bed
A Bed is a cast-iron casting, the crest of which is machined to fit headstock at right-hand
finish and sliding of tool rest and tail stock and the bed is bolt to the stand or filing
cabinet.
2. Head Stock
Head Stock is finished of cast iron and contains the drive mechanism. If the lathe is
straight driven, the motor is the part of the headstock. If it is belt, driven, the belt pulleys
are positioned in the headstock, Ends of the spindle are extensive and facilitate the use of
face-plate on inboard end and additional attachments on outboard.
3. Tailstock
A Tailstock is a casted piece of cast iron and be able to be clamped by the bed at the
necessary distance as of the headstock It has a barrel and a hand wheel and the barrel is
hollow and tapered inside to receive the taper shank of the center. The center fid in the
tailstock ropes the stock at finish.
4. Tool Rest
Tool Rest is made of machined cast iron. It provides hold for the tool rest.
5. Chip Tray
A Chip tray is prepared of sheet steel and is use to stay the chips removed through turning
and place the working tools use at some stage in the turning process.
6. Head Stock Spindle
Head Stock Spindle is main drive unit of the headstock and is threaded at together ends to
screw the face plates. Face end is hollow and is use to fit the taper shank center.
7. Leg Steel Cabinet
This is sheet steel cabinet which contains take mechanism. It supports the additional parts of the lathe machine.
