Drill Sleeve and SocketPoints : Drill Sleeve and SocketTapered shank drill has to be well cleaned ahead of putting it in the drill press spindle.
Look at the shank of the drill to create sure to it is no scratched or nicked. A broken or
nicked shank will not fit perfectly in the spindle and will cause the drill to wobble. The
tan of the drill should be in the same position as the slot in the spindle; a quick upward
push fastens the drill in the spindle. The slot holds the tang and turns the drill with the
spindle so to the drill cannot slip. If the taper shank of the drill is too small to fit the
spindle, place a drill sleeve over the shank of the drill. Be sure that the drill covering is
not scratched or nick.
