While the casting is detached as of the mold sand core is removed as of the casting leaving an inside passage in casting. Re-usable metal molds are use time and again, but sand cores must be replaced every time product is cast, thus the term semi-permanent molding. Semi-permanent moldings afford an extremely high accuracy quality to casting at a reduced price compare to sand casting processes.
