Working Principle of Lathe Machine Points : Working Principle of Lathe Machine Lathe is machine tool which holds workpiece among two inflexible and tough supports call centers or in face plate and chuck which rotate. Cutting tool is tightly held with support in tool post which is fed aligned with the rotating work. Normal cutting process performs through cutting tool fed also parallel or at right angles to axis of work. Cutting tool can also be fed at angle relative to axis of work for machining tapers and angles. Cutting tool hold in tool post is fed in to workpiece for preferred depth with in preferred direction that is, in linear, transverse or lateral direction. As their exists a virtual movement among workpiece and cutting tool, thus material is removed in the type of chips and the desired shape is obtain.
